About the album:
Following an intensive period in the studio, "Kvitravn" musically continues where the Runaljod trilogy left off, yet it marks a distinct evolution in our sound. The album features a broad selection of both traditional and historical instruments such as Kravik-lyre, Trossingen-lyre, Taglharpa, Sotharpa, Langeleik, Crwth, Goat-horn, Lur, Bronze-lur, flute, Moraharpa and the record also features guest appearances by a small group of prominent traditional singers, spearheaded by Kirsten Bråten Berg, one of the most important custodians of Norwegian traditional song. Throughout eleven songs, "Kvitravn" discusses Northern sorcery, spirit-animals, shadows, nature and animism, the wisdom and meanings of certain myths, various Norse spiritual concepts, and the relation between sage and songs.
Einar Selvik comments the album:
"To recite and copy the past is not very difficult, but to understand and integrate ancient thoughts, tools and methods with real purpose into a creation that is relevant to the modern era is truly challenging and remains our prime goal in our work. Although the album carries a variant of my own totemic artist name, it has, in this context, little to do with me but rather refers to the symbolism and legends of sacred white animals found in Nordic and other cultures all over the world. These highly regarded ghostly creatures, whether a raven, snake, bear, moose, reindeer, elephant or lion - are in animist traditions seen as prophetic, divine messengers, and guardians representing renewal, purity and a bridge between worlds."

Wardruna sign to Sony Music/Columbia Records for the World and announce Tour Dates for 2020
Masterful Norwegian storytellers Wardruna sign to Sony Music/Columbia Records for the world, and announce European tour dates for 2020. Dates below with tickets going on sale on 11th October at 10am BST, 11am CEST. Details of the upcoming album shall be revealed in due course.
Einar Selvik comments:
“Wardruna has been a DIY to-the-bone kind of project since the very beginning. Slowly and patiently evolving. Working hard and always keeping the art itself as the primary decisive factor. This will never change for me, and so having people on our team that also embrace this way of working is paramount. Partnering up with Sony Music / Columbia Records is a new steppingstone for us and I am very confident that this new addition to the team will give us new opportunities to further develop our art and take it to the next level.”
2019 marks ten years since Wardruna’s first release. A series of sold out shows at prestigious concert venues around the world culminate in the highlight of the fall; Wardruna will perform in the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater in the United States, followed by sold out European tour. The group's critically acclaimed “Runaljod” trilogy based on the Nordic runes reached its conclusion and was followed by a stripped-down, fully acoustic album exploring the ancient poetic traditions of the Skalds. This spring, a new chapter for the band will start. New music is being worked on as well as further steps in the band´s concert production.
“I don’t wish to reveal too much at this point but can say that we are now deep into the process of writing and recording a new album. When Wardruna gets up from the current studio-hibernation and initiate the concert-year of 2020, it is clearly allowed to hope for new music!" Says Einar Selvik.

WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR “MY TIME”:
The New Orleans natives made their long-awaited return last year with a string of reunion shows and festival appearances, and now are launching a full-on comeback with the impending release of Mourn The Southern Skies. Recorded by Duane Simoneaux at OCD Recording and Production and working with producer Jens Bogren (AMON AMARTH, OPETH, SEPULTURA) at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden for mix/master, EXHORDER is armed with more fury and vigor than bands half their age, concocting an intoxicating amalgam of old school thrashers and groovers blended with a modern, mature approach.
From the opening of the first track of Mourn The Southern Skies, listeners are reminded immediately just what EXHORDER is exactly through the spitting rage "My Time" forces upon their ears. It is evident that the anger remains prevalent, with perhaps a different point of view that younger men could not possibly have understood on earlier albums. Sasha Horn's energy and punk influence fire the engines, with Jason VieBrooks locking down the foundation tightly. Vinnie La Bella once again has proven himself "The Godfather" of thrash riffs, which cut through like a high speed drill bit thanks to the stellar production. A lead guitar face-off in the solo not only exhibits Vinnie's sometimes under-appreciated skills as a shredder, but also showcases newcomer Marzi Montazeri (“The High Priest of Distortion"). If anyone ever doubted EXHORDER's skill set regarding guitar soloing, those days are gone forever! And finally, as if riding a runaway garbage truck with fireworks exploding off of its roof top, Kyle Thomas invokes venom and energy with familiar passion. All in all, the truth is apparent – EXHORDER mean business once again!
EXHORDER’s founding guitarist Vinnie La Bella says of their resurgence, “You can plot and scheme for years, even decades (as is in our case). You can work hard, keep grinding, bang the square peg in the round hole until it looks somewhat presentable. But sometimes you just need to let time tell you, it's time. Exhorder has its own soul. And it pokes me in the ribs ever so often as if to remind me, 'Hey asshole, we ain't done yet!' Kyle and myself had a dream as teenagers. And as cliche as it may seem, we never woke up from it. Exhorder has always crept in and out of our lives. So no magic bullet or formula here. It was only a simple matter of time before the right guys, the right songs, the right manager/label would finally come to the party. It's been damn near 35 years since we first uttered the name, Exhorder. 27 years since our last record, and a whole lot of breaking up and making up in between. So why is this time different? Why start again at 50 years of age instead of retiring? Simple... because it’s finally, TIME!"
EXHORDER’s enduring legacy began in the mid-80’s when they defined the sound of Louisiana thrash and groove metal. Their initial formation was short lived, lasting nearly a decade with two critically acclaimed, classic albums, but their impact on the metal genre can be felt through a generation of bands that followed. EXHORDER dissolved in the mid-90’s but briefling reunited in 2011. Now, the band has returned to reclaim their throne of NOLA metal with their awaited new album and an all-star line-up that includes Kyle Thomas (founding vocalist; TROUBLE, HEAVY AS TEXAS), Vinnie La Bella (founding guitarist), Marzi Montazeri (guitarist; ex-SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ex-PHIL ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS, HEAVY AS TEXAS), Jason VieBrooks (bassist since 2011; HEATHEN, GRIP INC.) and Sasha Horn (drummer; FORBIDDEN)

exhorder sign to nuclear blast records!
New Orleans based Thrash Metal pioneers Exhorder have signed to Nuclear Blast Records! New material on its way!
Comments vocalist Kyle Thomas:
"The excitement level of EXHORDER being in contract negotiations once again is higher for us than we can express. Coming to an agreement with Nuclear Blast has inspired us to bring our writing to new heights. People still want to hear this band, as was evident in the reaction to our performances in 2018. Nuclear Blast strongly wants to help facilitate this venture, and for that we are truly excited and grateful. I am looking forward to seeing what we can make happen together over the next few years. The roster at Nuclear Blast speaks for itself, as well as the presence of Monte Conner and Jaap Wagemaker on the team. Be on the lookout, because EXHORDER is heading your way once again!"
Vinnie LaBella adds:
"What an incredible honor it is to be added to the Nuclear Blast family! We've had such a great year already, and now this! We are so proud and could not be in better company moving forward. We are excited for the future. We realize we turned in a couple of classics back in the day and it's been 27 years since we released our last record. And while those past successes are notable, we feel in our hearts like this new record will be our first record, and we couldn't have a better partner in NB to bring it to you. New management, New line up, new label, new record, new EXHORDER!"

AISA MUSIC JOINS FORCES WITH HEXVESSEL; NEW ALBUM ANNOUNCED!
It is with great pleasure that AISA Music announces the signing of Anglo-Finnish pagan masters Hexvessel to AISA Nordics on this All Hallow’s Eve of 2018! Hexvessel mastermind Mathew Kvohst McNerney comments: "I love the idea of musicians working with musicians and using their networks and experience to help other up and coming bands. AISA is on the same side of the fence as the artist and comes from the same place. We're happy to find a home amongst like-minded artists who work with bands that might not have the same sound or scene but have a high level of artistic integrity. I love the way AISA works with bands they love, rather than bands that fit into a pigeon-hole, to elevate their art to the highest standard."
Hexvessel is a marvelous addition to a healthily and steadily growing roster of unique bands with something genuine, unique and heartfelt to offer the world. Ivar Bjørnson from the AISA Nordics office in Bergen, Norway adds: “Getting a chance to work with Mat and Hexvessel is an absolute delight – what they are creating is some of the most atmospheric, meaningful and magical music out there in the scenes today. I use the plural because they cross over into so many exiting territories both in terms of the musical expression and their concept. Working with a band that believes in being professionals while remaining true artists at heart; that is what we want. Business or pleasure? -Both!”
We are also happy to add that the release of Hexvessel’s fourth studio album, “All Tree”, the successor to the band’s highly acclaimed album “When We Are Death” (2016), will be released on CD, LP and digitally on February 15th, 2019 through Century Media Records! The pre-sale will start in mid-November and the first new song from the album will be released in early December.
Hexvessel’s singer Mat McNernery comments on the new album:
"All Tree is not just about going back to the heart of Hexvessel, with a slight return to our forest folk roots, it’s about drawing fresh inspiration from my own heritage too. The English pastoral folk influences are infused with Celtic mythology from my Anglo-Irish blood, with Finnish nature as our backdrop.
From the Canterbury folk scene and early prog bands that soundtracked my youth in England, to the ghost stories I was told as a child on my uncles farm in Ireland, this album is a spiritual journey where the old myths are doorways to enlightenment. The dawn light across boggy fields, the wind blowing through the keyhole, the branches dragging their breath inwards as the seasons ignite a magic sense of mystery about the wilderness. That’s what we tried to bring out into the songs on this album. By bowing old dead tree branches with violin bows, by summoning the sounds of the fire and the birds in the field outside, we gave the music a life which, like the liminal spirits of Samhain drifts in and out of this world. That's what folk means. It's the countryside singing out from within me. It’s their story we sing. And no matter where I go or where I end up staying, it's that folk countryside which is the seed from which I sprang. All Tree."

After the success of their previous collaboration “Skuggsjá”; Ivar Bjørnson (Enslaved) and Einar Selvik (Wardruna) followed up with an imposing new piece entitled “Hugsjá”. By weaving together indigenous and contemporary thoughts, sounds and instruments, they are inviting you on a vivid journey - exploring the distant history and traditions.
Now Ivar Bjørnson & Einar Selvik are taking music from these two albums, along with special surprises from their respective bodies of work as composers, out on the European roads – executed by the front men themselves alongside their brilliant live band consisting of percussionist and backing singer Iver Sandøy, keyboardist Håkon Vinje and Hardanger Fiddler Silje Solberg.
Ivar Bjørnson and Einar Selvik comment: "This is the realization of a new stage of this wonderful journey we are on together; first writing music, performing it at festivals, releasing it as albums; and now finally taking it all out onto the road to perform our musical works to our listeners. We are very much looking forward to these musical meetings with you all – and thank you for your massive support, at the end of the day that is what made this happen!"

“Skald” takes the listener on a musical journey outside the massive soundscape that Wardruna is known for and into a simpler and more direct form, where voice, poetry and ancient instruments like Kravik-lyre, Taglharpa and Bukkehorn lead the way.
Einar Selvik comments:
““Skald” was recorded live in the studio with the intention of capturing the raw and uncompromising energy of a live performance rather than aiming for a flawless and polished expression. It sets out to give voice to the ancient craft that once lay at the heart of the Norse oral traditions, presented as it takes shape in the hands of a humble contemporary skald today.”
"Skald" tracklist:
1. Vardlokk
2. Skald
3. Ein sat hun uti

AISA Nordics signs KRAKOW!
Today, we proudly announce the signing of KRAKOW, the on-the-rise Norwegian Progressive Rock/Metal-band. The signing compliments the release of their video for “black wandering sun”, to be released as a single this coming Friday June 1st; which is a taste of their coming full length “minus” due to be out in August on KARISMA RECORDS. Watch the video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bDAWrFAgHI&feature=youtu.be
Kjartan, founding member and KRAKOW guitarist comments:
“We are happy to announce that we have landed on the management roster of AISA together with Enslaved, Wardruna, Årabrot and more. Working together with people who understand our art and can help us reach a broader audience, is definitely the right step ahead for us at this point. We are looking forward to releasing our new album and go on new adventures with these guys!
We are also proud to release our first video and single from our forthcoming album "minus". "black wandering sun" is an homage to our heroes who passed during the last couple of years, pulling inspiration from their universe, tipping the hat to their words and visiting them as the stars they are.An extra thanks to Phil Campbell of Motorhead fame for laying down an amazing solo on this track.”
While Ivar Bjørnson from AISA Nordics adds:
“KRAKOW is an example of what Norway will be doing as we run out of Black Metal oil: innovative, progressive and crossing over without fear to create something new. I have followed these guys since the start, and knew that they were capable of great things.. but what they are bringing to the table with “minus” is simply mind blowing. If we can do anything to promote this band so the world can hear them, nothing would make more sense.”

BANDCAMP
The word ‘Hugsjá’ means to see with, or within, the mind – and it reflects the idea that one’s mind has the potential to see further than the eyes can reach. By weaving together indigenous and contemporary thoughts, sounds and instruments, they are inviting you on a vivid journey – exploring the distant history and traditions along coastal Norway.
Hugsjá was first commissioned by, and performed at, Bergen International Festival in 2017, as part a series of concerts named Nordvegen (“the northern road”); inspired by local history and traditions in each of the places visited. The Nordvegen concerts created an acoustic and intimate basis for the grandiose commissioned work, “Hugsjá”. The piece received its world premiere in Bergen’s premiere concert hall Grieghallen, and ultimately the material was recorded and became this full-length album.
Roadburn 2018 will be both the release party and international live debut of “Hugsjá”, the album.
Einar Selvik (Wardruna) comments:
Where our previous joint endeavor «Skuggsjá» had a very specific idea and format when it was commissioned, I feel we had much more room on «Hugsjá», to freely explore as well as to apply our experience into the creative process and planning. It has truly been an enriching process where we have been working alongside great musicians, language experts, archeologists and local experts; seeking to unfold and shed light on relevant, yet near forgotten deities and myths as well as local history and traditions.
Ivar Bjørnson (Enslaved) comments:
We started out by fusing our respective bands into a mammoth of a piece; and marching said mammoth on and off stage afterwards was not the easiest of tasks either. So when we started working on round two, we moved the focus from what we were doing in our “day-bands”, and what we could do together as musical and thinking “individuals”. In that process I feel we have invented a whole new genre and a whole new approach to historically anchored art. The recording process was a lot of fun also; these songs really works on all scales; acoustically outdoors by the sea, mic´d up and amplified in a giant concert hall – and last but not least; as an album…
“Hugsjá” tracklist:
1. Hugsjá

ÅRABROT SIGNS WITH PELAGIC RECORDS
AISA Nordics artist Årabrot, Norwegian Art Rock par excellence, has signed a record deal with German connoisseur label Pelagic Records. The collaboration will kick off with a special 12” single for Record Store Day 2018 and their appearance at Roadburn Festival April 19th . The single contains a taster for the coming full length; “Sinnerman” – a punishing and relentless take on the traditional song that grabs the listener by the neck and does not let go. Side B contains “Nihil Stampede” which is only to be found on this release. In addition to this maximalist vinyl single, the release will also be available digitally (no CD version).
Årabrot mastermind Kjetil Nernes has the following to say about the inking of the deal: «Thank you Pelagic for having us on board. 2018 will be an interesting year. Årabrot will return bigger and better than ever. Expect the unexpected!»
Pelagic founder and CEO Robin Staps comments: “Årabrot are a band with character. They don’t really fit in anywhere, because they have created a niche of their own. We have had an eye on them since “The Gospel”, and we’re excited to finally have them on board!”
